Creative

A creative is any promotional asset an affiliate runs to drive traffic: a banner, an HTML ad, an email template, a text ad, a link, or a video. Creatives belong to an offer, and each one can carry its own tracking so you see how much traffic it pulls.

A creative is the promotional asset an affiliate actually puts in front of an audience: a banner image, an HTML ad, an email template, a text ad, a plain link, or a video. Creatives belong to an offer — they're the raw material affiliates pull from to promote it. Giving affiliates well-made, on-brand creatives is one of the most direct levers on program performance: better assets convert better, and consistent assets protect the advertiser's brand.

Why track creatives individually

The reason to treat each asset as its own creative is measurement. When every creative carries its own tracking, you can see which banner, which subject line, which video pulls the most traffic and converts best — and retire the ones that don't. A creative that quietly underperforms is costing you the conversion rate a better one would have earned. Per-creative tracking turns "our banners" into "banner C beats banner A by 40%."

A worked example

You upload a set of eight banner sizes for a summer promotion as eight separate creatives. Affiliates grab the sizes that fit their placements. A month later the report shows the 300×250 creative driving most of the conversions and the 728×90 driving clicks but few conversions. You promote the 300×250, refresh the leaderboard banner, and tell affiliates which unit is winning. Because each creative had its own tracking link, none of that insight required guesswork — the sub-ID and creative dimensions were on every click.

Tokenized creatives

A creative's embedded links can carry redirect tokens that fill in per-affiliate automatically when the asset is downloaded or sent — so one banner set works for every affiliate without hand-editing each link, and every download is correctly attributed.

How this works in LimeliJourney

In LimeliJourney, creatives live on an offer's Creatives tab — a two-pane library you manage as part of your partners and offers. Add one file or batch upload many at once, where each file becomes its own tracked creative so you can compare them. One creative can hold several files (a "Spring Sale banner set"), each with its own tracking. Creatives with tokenized links fill in per-affiliate on download or send, and you can email a creative pack straight to an affiliate. You can also draft copy or banner images from a brief with the AI Creative Studio — see the AI operator — then refine and publish them to the offer.
