Smart Link
A smart link is a single tracking link whose destination is resolved at click time rather than baked in, so the platform can route each visitor to the right landing page based on current configuration. Changing the destination updates every link already distributed, with no re-issuing.
A smart link is a tracking link that decides where to send the visitor when they click, not when the link was created. Instead of hard-coding a destination URL, the link carries only identifiers — offer, affiliate, campaign — and the platform looks up the current landing page at click time. This makes the link evergreen: you can change the destination, rotate landing pages, or apply traffic rules without ever re-issuing the links your affiliates have already published.
Why resolve at click time
Baked-in destinations rot. If an affiliate embedded your URL in a hundred blog posts and you change the landing page, every one of those links breaks or points somewhere stale. A smart link solves this: the destination is configuration, not content. Update it once and every published link follows. It also enables per-click routing — send mobile traffic to one page and desktop to another, block a geo, or fall back gracefully when an offer expires.
A worked example
An affiliate is handed:

There is no landing page in that URL — just IDs. When a visitor clicks, the platform resolves the destination in priority order: the creative's override, then the campaign's landing page, then the offer's default contract page, then the offer's own default landing page. Two weeks later you launch a better landing page and mark it default. The affiliate does nothing; their existing link now sends every new visitor to the new page, and the change takes effect on live links within minutes.
Security by design
Resolving at click time is also safer. Because the link carries only IDs and the tracker only sends visitors to a destination configured on the creative, campaign, or offer, nobody can rewrite a link to redirect traffic to an arbitrary site. There is nothing to inject.
